Resting and cooking times

For a much tastier hamburger, let it  rest for 1 minute after removing from  the barbecue for the juices to distribute on the surface. For a rare hamburger: cook it for 4 minutes total (125 ºF). For medium rare: 5 minutes total  (135 ºF). For medium well done: 6-7 minutes total (145 ºF). For well done: 8-9 minutes total  (160 ºF).

IN THE KITCHEN

  1. Peel and finely chop the clove of garlic. Place the meat, the chopped garlic and the egg in a bowl. Add salt and pepper and mix together. Make four equally sized hamburgers and set aside.
  2. Wash the lettuce and tomato, remove the tomato stalk and cut into four slices, shred the lettuce and slice the gherkins. Set aside.
  3. Spread butter on the buns and set aside.

ON THE BARBECUE

  1. Heat the barbeque to 500ºF. Place the hamburgers on the GRILL TILES, lower the temperature to 145ºF and cook the hamburgers for three minutes each side.
  2. When there is one minute left to finish cooking, place the buns on the GRILL TILES as well, the buttered side down.
  3. Place the lettuce, a slice of tomato, the gherkins, and the hamburger on the lower half of the bun. Add mustard and ketchup, place the other half of the bun on top and serve.
